Testing Laboratory for Fabric Evaluation

One of the key aspects of our production is a strong focus on quality. That is why every fabric undergoes thorough testing of strength, durability, and functionality. This ensures that SVITAP coated fabrics meet all required standards and specifications.

Our in-house testing laboratory is located directly at our Chropyně plant and is equipped with modern instruments and technologies for material testing. It plays a crucial role in the entire production process, as it allows us not only to monitor quality during manufacturing but also to simulate long-term use of our synthetic leathers. Thanks to this, we are able to continuously innovate and improve our products to achieve maximum customer satisfaction.

Flexing Tester

Flexing Tester

It tests the material’s resistance to repeated mechanical stress. Test samples of the prescribed size are clamped into the jaws of the device, which then performs cyclic back-and-forth movements according to the set number of cycles. Afterwards, the samples are visually inspected and evaluated for the presence of cracks, damage, and structural changes.

TIRA TEST Tensile Testing Machine

It verifies the mechanical properties of the material, such as tensile strength, elongation, and the adhesion of the coating to the substrate. The test sample is clamped into the grips, and the machine applies a controlled tensile load until rupture or to a specified length in accordance with the relevant standard. During the test, the force required to break the sample and other characteristics are recorded.

Abrasion Testing Device

Abrasion Testing Device

It is used to measure abrasion resistance under dry and wet conditions. Test samples of the prescribed size are placed into the machine, where they are stretched by 5%. Fleece pads are then applied and rub the sample according to the set number of cycles. The degree of damage or change in gloss is subsequently evaluated in accordance with the relevant standard.

Digital Thickness Gauge

Digital Thickness Gauge

It determines the thickness of textiles or finished products. Measurements are carried out on test samples of the prescribed size, and in accordance with the standard, multiple measurements are taken at the specified frequency. The device operates on the principle of precise compression of the material between two measuring plates and automatically records the thickness value.

Hardness Tester

Hardness Tester

It is used to determine hardness, most commonly for films or softer plastic materials. A test sample is placed into the device, and a measuring indenter is pressed onto it. After 15 seconds of applying a constant force, the hardness value is read and recorded according to the Shore A scale. Measurement in accordance with the relevant standard ensures reproducible results.

Desiccator

It is used to determine water vapour permeability (WVP). Test samples of the prescribed size are placed into cups with distilled water and positioned in a desiccator between layers of silica gel. They are then transferred to a drying oven, where they are tested for 24 hours at a temperature of 37 °C. Water vapour permeability is subsequently determined based on the loss of weight.

Dimensional Stability Tester

Dimensional Stability Tester

This device is used to determine the dimensional stability of a material when exposed to elevated temperatures. In accordance with the standard, the test sample is marked around its perimeter and placed into a drying oven, where it is conditioned at 80 °C for 6 hours. After removal, the displacement of the markings is measured using the device, and the results are converted into a percentage change in dimensions.

BALLY FLEXOMETER

BALLY FLEXOMETER

It tests resistance to repeated flexing at sub-zero temperatures. The BALLY FLEXOMETER is set to the required negative temperature and the number of cycles specified in the test method. Test samples of the prescribed size are clamped into the grips, which perform back-and-forth movements for the set number of cycles. After completion of the flexing test, the samples are evaluated under a magnifying glass.

POLYMERTEST

POLYMERTEST

It tests resistance to water penetration (water column). The device is used to measure the water resistance of materials, specifically to determine resistance to water penetration under pressure – the so-called water column. This test simulates real-life conditions where the material is exposed to water under pressure, and observes the pressure level at which moisture begins to penetrate through the surface.
